Para mujeres y niñas: Oportunidades en las TIC

En esta parte del portal de las niñas en las TIC figuran enlaces a becas, concursos y premios, formación y prácticas, redes en línea, campamentos tecnológicos, información sobre eventos nacionales del Día de las niñas en las TIC y otras iniciativas para fomentar y apoyar a las mujeres y las niñas a entrar en el sector de las TIC. Tenga en cuenta que cualquier pregunta que tenga respecto a cualquiera de los programas enumerados deberá dirigirse al proveedor del programa.

La UIT invita a instituciones académicas, empresas, agencias gubernamentales y de asistencia, ONG y otros organismos que ofrezcan becas, concursos y premios, formación y prácticas, redes en línea, campamentos tecnológicos y eventos del Día de las niñas en las TIC a añadir nuevos programas y actualizar la información publicada en este portal para mantenerla al día. Todo lo que necesita hacer es registrarse y añadir información sobre sus programas o modificarla. El administrador del Portal de las niñas en las TIC revisará su contenido antes de publicarlo.

¿Cómo buscar?

Puede filtrar los recursos de acuerdo con sus propias necesidades: por tipo de programa y por la región y el país en el que se ofrece. Los países se encuentran enumerados en la región correspondiente. Los programas que se ofrecen a nivel mundial o que no son específicos de una región se pueden encontrar mediante el filtro de programa mundial. Puede refinar la búsqueda hasta que encuentre lo que necesita.

#techmums is an organization that seeks to empower mothers to learn to use technology through computer skills workshops (ranging from social media skills to Python) and online support, both to help them understand the ICT skills their children are learning in school and to improve their own lives through technology.

The program seeks to provide tutoring to students from disadvantaged suburbs to help them get through the stages of higher education with the prospect of obtaining a higher education qualification and build a professional network.  As a participant in the Cercle program, Alcatel-Lucent is directly involved in the pursuit of greater cultural diversity and a broader social mix. It is a public / private partnership with a common objective : diversity.

The program involves young people mainly from 46 secondary schools and 40 universities in disadvantaged urban areas selected by the Ministry of National Education.  The objective is to help them get through the stages of higher education with the prospect of obtaining a higher education qualification in three curricula for excellence:

The leading university for telecoms engineers (ENST in Brittany, ISEP in Paris, etc.)
The leading university for general engineers (ENSEEIHT, ESIEE in Paris, etc.)
The leading university for business (Sciences Po, ESC in Rennes, etc.) 

ACM-W's mission is to celebrate, inform and support women in computing, and work with the ACM-W community of computer scientists, educators, employers and policy makers to improve working and learning environments for women.  This includes promoting activities that result in more equal representation of women in CS such as mentoring or role modeling; monitoring the status of women in industrial and computing through the gathering of statistics; providing historical information about women's accomplishments and roles in CS; and serving as a repository of information about programs, documents and policies of concern to women in CS.

BSCWomen is an online professional network for women in the ICT industry. It also provides mentoring to inspire girls to follow ICT careers.  They hold regular events for women in technology.  Finally, they are currently holding a competition for members to design a poster to encourage girls to pursue ICT studies and careers. BigAmbition, is a revolutionary programme whose primary strategy is to attract teenagers towards education and careers within the IT sector.

The initiative focuses on helping 14-19 year olds make informed choices in an inspiring and accessible way – stimulating demand among young people for technology-related degrees and careers plus improving the gender imbalance in IT.

Brunel University of London offers scholarships for female UK/EU students applying for one of the relevant MSc full-time courses. Applicants must be studying for undergraduate degree in the UK in Engineering, Technology, Science or Mathematics, and be eligible for associate or graduate membership of one of the UK Engineering Institutions.

The Code to Change program is a five month program for women who are interested in joining the IT sector.  It involves a coding bootcamp, mentoring, and work experience.

CodeFirst Girls teaches technical and soft skills to girls and offers a support community for girls and young women in technology, as well as helps tech companies with training and improving gender diversity in hiring.

Computer Clubs for Girls (CC4G) – a fun way to inspire and motivate 9 to 14 year old girls with, and through, ICT. Featuring girl-centric topics like music, fashion and celebrity, CC4G develops skills through games and challenges.

Students gain an insight into the relevance of IT and a better understanding of career options from real-world examples and interaction with employers. e-skills UK has worked with employers, as well as educational professionals, to ensure CC4G supports girls in developing the IT skills that will equip them for working life.

CEPIS is the representative body of national informatics associations throughout greater Europe. CEPIS' main aim is to promote the development of the information society in Europe. As part of its work CEPIS aims to promote the participation and advancement of women in ICT-related careers (promote gender equality in the ICT sector) and encourage and stimulate the interest of young people, particularly women, to engage in ICT-related studies and subsequent careers. Its activities in the area include Women in ICT Task Force, CEPIS Award for Women in ICT and Women in ICT role models.
