The Women’s TechConnect Initiative is designed in partnership with Women in Technology honorees, WICT and SCTE to provide a mentoring relationship between senior and rising cable technology professionals to help educate and retain women in the technology fields of the cable industry.  This formal mentorship program will pair WIT honoree mentors, each of whom is a leader and innovator, alongside less-tenured, though high-potential, women in technology fields.  The goal of the program is to provide a crucial support system to better equip mentees to overcome workplace challenges, while helping them rise through the cable ranks until they themselves become the leaders and innovators.  WICT and SCTE will support the mentors/mentees by providing online resources and tools, underwriting event registrations and memberships, as well as a sense of community, as the designated mentees embark on their mentoring journey.

SmartWoman is a mobile service supporting the advancement of women around the world.

SmartWoman Nigeria offers practical advice for women to help them improve their lives, their business performance, be more efficient and effective in their jobs; generate new employment opportunities; connect directly with like-minded women for mentoring and build self-confidence.

Organisation that puts girls in contact with women working in technology, offering workshops and other technology-related events such as hackathons.

Techsploration is a program designed to provide young women with opportunities to explore trades, technical and technology-related occupations, while creating an awareness about the critical role of work in their lives. TechWomen is an initiative of the US State Department that pairs women in Silicon Valley with their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa to create exchange programs at leading technology companies. Using innovative technologies, cutting-edge content, and social networking tools, TechWomen fosters and develops the next generation of women leaders in the technology field by providing women and girls with the access and opportunity needed to pursue tech-based careers.

$5,000 scholarship that can be used for educational and professional development, including coding bootcamps, online coding courses, and textbooks.  Also includes a year of weekly mentoring.

The Dutch National Expert Organization on Girls/Women has a variety of projects to encourage more women and girls to follow STEM paths.  For example, its Science/Technology's Gender and STEM Network brings together policymakers, university researchers, and STEM professionals to gain insight into factors behind girls' decisions to enter STEM.  Other initiatives focus on raising awareness among secondary school girls, Girls in ICT Day style activities, workshops for primary school girls, campaigns to break STEM gender stereotypes, and mentoring and shadowing programmes.

STEM Camps

The African Girls STEM camp is part of a major effort by WAAW Foundation to attract more African girls (ages 11-15yrs) into STEM disciplines early in life when career decisions are made.

What is the WAAW STEM Camp?
1.An opportunity for girls to learn about role models in STEM careers, and build mentor relationships.
2.Outstanding instructors with extensive backgrounds in Science, Technology and Math teaching the workshops.
3.A one-week introduction to the world of technology and engineering, with intense individual and team participation.
4.Practical, hands-on lessons promoting experiential learning.
5.A fun residential camping experience making friends and promoting peer communities.
6.A hands-on experience with high-tech equipment and processes.

Scholarships

Our $500 scholarship program initiated in 2008, is aimed at providing timely financial support to academically promising female African Students who are currently in STEM related undergraduate disciplines in an African College or University. Awardees must demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to participating in building Africa. The initiative also promotes peers networks that provide support and mentoring to ensure completion in their chosen STEM fields.

Mentoring African Women in STEM

One of the keys to improving livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa is to build and sustain a strong, effective talent pool for the delivery of Science and Technology innovation. This requires fostering the STEM capacity of women while strengthening the mentoring and peer networks.
This initiative expands the impact of WAAWs STEM camps and scholarships, easing the participants access to mentors while building their skills and professional networks. In turn, it brings the groundbreaking work of Professional African women in STEM to the national, regional and global stages, where it is much needed. 
 

Offers female-only coding bootcamps with job placement guarantees.  They also hold summer camps and have online tutorials for educators.  Provides grants for women.

Part of the Women Adding Value to the Economy (WAVE) Programme, WICWALES supports women in the ICT sector.  It holds workshops for women to improve their employment prospects in technical positions. In conjunction with these up-skilling workshops, WICWALES also imparts mentoring on participants, networking opportunities, and works with employers to reduce gender pay gaps and raise awareness of other gender-related issues in the workplace.
