This part of the Girls in ICT Portal contains links to scholarships, contests and awards, training and internships, online networks, tech camps, information about national Girls in ICT Day events and other initiatives to encourage and support women and girls to enter the ICT sector.  Please note that any questions you may have about any of the listed programs should be directed to the program provider.

For Academia, Companies, Governments and Organizations: Help Keep the Portal Current

ITU encourages academic institutions, companies, government and aid agencies, NGOs, and others that offer scholarships, contests and awards, training and internships, online networks, tech camps, and Girls in ICT Day events to add new programs and update the information posted here to keep it current.  All you need to do is register and add or edit information about your program.  The Girls in ICT Portal administrator will review your content before posting it to the public.

How to search?

Users can filter the resources in line with their own needs.  You can filter by type of program and the region and country in which the program is offered. You will find countries listed under the relevant region. Programs offered globally or which are not specific to one region can be found by using the global program filter.  You may refine the search to best meet your needs.

The Computing and Communications scholarship has been established by the Department of Computing and Communications (C&C) at Memorial University of Newfoundland in support of the dependants of its staff members. To be eligible the recipient must have scholarship standing, be a full-time undergraduate student and be a dependant of a current, retired, deceased, or former (having worked in the unit for a minimum of 5 years) employee of C&C or be a current student employee of the Department. One or more scholarships may be awarded in any given year. In the absence of a candidate meeting the above criteria, the scholarship will be awarded to a student beyond first year majoring in Computer Science in the Faculty of Science or a student in the Faculty of Business Administration. Not only for women.

This scholarship, established in 1998 by the Grandy Family to honour the memory of their parents, will be valued at a portion of the annual accrued interest on the initial endowment. It will be awarded on the basis of scholarship standing and demonstrated aptitude and potential in the science of computing to an undergraduate student beyond first year in full time study of the Computer Science program (declared major for B.Sc.) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Not only for women.

The only one of its kind in Canada, WTI offers training and certification for women who want to enhance their skills and acquire up-to-date qualifications for jobs that are in demand. WTI serves women at all levels of education and skill, from women with little or no experience with computers to women who are internationally trained IT Online Networks/  Training & Internships/  Contests and awards/  Others needing the latest industry recognized certifications for jobs in the local labour market.

This program will counter the effects of digital illiteracy, which is a barrier to employment. There is an emphasis on "non-traditional" so there is a focus on skilled trade as well.

Yukon Women in Trades and Technology Bursaries are being established to promote, encourage and sponsor 2 women each year ($1000 each) in an educational program in the area of the apprenticable trades by providing assistance to applicants in their quest for training at a recognized training institution.
